Come to the April edition of the Open Draw and create your own ZINE!
What is a zine?
A zine is usually a non – commercial, non professional publication, kind of like a little magazine but with a twist. The main difference between a magazine and a zine is that zines are not out there to make a profit but, rather, to add other, often unheard voices into the mix.
Zines are usually made out of interest and passion and are often self-published by the writer/artist/creator. (source: artmatters.ca)
During this evening we will guide you into creating a fun zine for you to share with other members of the Open Draw community.
They a great way to explore storytelling; the theme can be anything as well as the techniques you use (drawing, collage, paint, writing); within one evening you will have a little book in your hands. And they’re super cool.
So how will the evening look like?
Doors open like always at 7pm. When you arrive you will receive the Zine Challenge instructions!
These easy steps will guide you through the process. And all materials will be available for you to have fun!
At 9:30 we will set up a Sharing Table, where everyone can have a go at reading and looking through other people's zines.
Remember: places are limited, so if you’d like to secure your spot book online!
But… what if i don’t know what to draw?
Don’t worry! Not only do we have inspiration books, we also have lots of different materials and always someone to ask for help and advice.
